Malbec has been one of our core wines since we began the winery. It was once the most planted grape in Bordeaux and has gained more recent attention as the dominant grape grown in Argentina. More importantly, Washington’s Columbia Valley is one of the few places in the world capable of growing exceptional Malbec. Wines made from this grape are notorious for requiring extended aging before they are released or ready to drink. Ours IS ready to drink at release but will continue to improve for at least 3-5 years in cellar and is expected to age well for 10+ years.
We aged this wine in barrels for a full 30 months, more than 6 months longer than our average wine and 15-20 months longer than most wineries. This extended aging converts the Malbec grape from a simple, fruit forward wine into an exceptionally balanced complete wine.
